April 2011: It is with sadness and respect that we announce that Freeman Tovell, to whom we awarded our Keith Matthews Award for best book published in 2008, passed away on 7 March 2011 at the age of 92.

February 2010: Electronic copies of The Northern Mariner/Le marin du nord Volume XVII have been made available online in ISO open standard Portable Document Format (PDF.) The indices are available here.

September 2009: The CNRS Prizes for 2008 were announced at the Victoria Annual General Meeting.

February 2008: Planning for our 2009 Conference (Victoria, BC) is progressing well; a list of papers and presentations (as of 9 February) is now available.

January 2008: Electronic copies of The Northern Mariner/Le marin du nord Volume XVI have been made available online in ISO open standard Portable Document Format (PDF.) The indices are available here.

October 2008: The Northern Mariner/Le marin du nord Volume XVIII, Nos. 3 and 4 were mailed to all members. This completes the Society's schedule of eliminating the publication backlog.

September 2008: The CNRS Prizes for 2007 were announced at the Québec Annual General Meeting

August 2008: The Northern Mariner/Le marin du nord (Volume XVIII, No. 1) was mailed to all members. Volume XVIII No 2. is at the printers - distribution expected end September. Numbers 3 and 4 are nearing completion with distribution planned for end October 2008.

August 2008: Online, text searchable, versions of back issues of the first fifteen volumes of The Northern Mariner/le marin du nord have now been posted on line. The indices are available here.

May 2007: the April Argonauta will be mailed this week -- and the new Books by Members listed there have been uploaded to the website.

October 2002: Professor David J. McDougall dies at age 82.
